oh snap [30 Jun 2005|09:42am]

There is a two page article on Operation Ivy in the latest issue of Alternative Press featuring an interview with Jesse and an updated photograph. It's pretty wicked I must say. Too bad it's not on Common RIDER. However there is mention of Common Rider in the article, but it's just like "M.ichaels spent time in a number of bands including Big Rig and [Common Rider]". WOOOO.

And another thing, if you all haven't heard BIG RIG, I suggest you take a listen. My brother scored the CD of EBAY...and it's amazing. I love it.

AAA / Common Rider split [20 Apr 2005|08:57am]

[ mood | Multi-nippled ]

Nobody's discussing the AAA / Common Rider split, for crying out loud? It's been out for a week, people! I just got mine in the mail yesterday (www.hopelessrecords.com still has it for $5.99 post-paid.)

On first listen, it's okay...the Common Rider tracks are obviously outtakes from "This Is Unity Music" that were rejected either because they're weaker than or too similar to other songs on the album. Still well worth six bucks, but it's not jaw-droppingly brilliant like LWR and TIUM...

Anyone have any promo type photos of Common Rider? The official site is gone, and so is that great fansite(Last Wave Rockers). :( I used to have a few images but I lost them the last time I formatted my computer.

alt "signal signal" track [28 Jul 2004|09:15pm]
So, not too long ago I downloaded the "Signal Signal" track off of the internet. Now, I noticed immediately that the track I downloaded, and the track that's on Last Wave Rockers is entirely different..

For instance.. instead of a guitar solo, like during the LWR track, there is an awesome saxophone solo. I don't know if anyone else has this track, but personally I like it alot better.

New Common Rider track! [14 Jul 2004|09:15am]

[ mood | Laminated ]

Noticed this hasn't been mentioned here yet...there's a previously-unreleased Common Rider track on the new Hopeless Records sampler "Hopelessly Devoted To You, Vol. 5." The song's called "Where the Waves Are Highest." It's obviously a cut track from "This Is Unity Music," and sounds a bit too much like a couple of the songs on that album, but it still rocks, dammit. The CD's three bucks postpaid at www.hopelessrecords.com and this isn't an advertisement.

Oh, and HI! I'm Shoebox. I like Common Rider muchly (TIUM is my favorite album of the last decade or so,) and mourn their lack of existence. I was lucky enough to get to see them (and talk to Jesse Michaels briefly) at the 2002 Plea for Peace tour in Worcester, MA. I drove 6 hours to get there, but it was worth it...one of the best shows I've ever seen. Was anyone else there? You couldn't have missed me...I was the 6'4" 300-lb. guy with a mullet jumping around like an idiot.

N00b [02 Jul 2004|05:40pm]

hi, my name's heather and i'm new, and i've been a fan of common rider for a really long time but i'd never seen this community until now. I'm also a fan of nothing nice although that has also stopped, but here's one of my favorite ones i thought maybe you'd appreciate.

Hope you enjoyed it. I see that not many people post in here very often, but I think that should change and we should enjoy common rider together.

There ain't no dream like the one that's Real [17 Apr 2004|06:11pm]
[ mood | nostalgic ]

Greetings. I just found this community and it makes my day.

As far as seeing Common Rider: I'm grateful now that I went through all the effort to see them four times (Philly, DC, RVA, Philly again), since it was an unfortunately rare opportunity... I saw them three times on the Plea for Peace tour, and once at an R5 gig. (They played a few small shows after PFP, one of which was for a local promoter in Philadelphia called R5.) Seeing them play an intense set for a small crowd in a basement was just dreamy... Especially hopping up on stage and singing along to Carry On with Jesse Michaels.

So... Who else wants to reminisce about seeing them live?

Wow. I can't believe I never thought to look for a Common Rider community. I joined a Jesse Michaels community, but still never thought to look for this, can you imagine? They've been my favorite band for years now. I miss their music, and the members.. does anyone know what the ex-members are up to?

I'm pretty sure Mass 'n Dan are touring with Squirtgun, but Jesse?

ONE YEAR [11 Mar 2004|09:00pm]

yeah, it's really been a year. I'm pretty sure this is the exact date that they broke up. I'm still sad. I love Common Rider more than any other band out there. They are seriously way cool. I miss Common Rider very much. It really sucks knowing that your favorite band will never ever produce another cd or tour again. I really hope that Jesse Michaels does something else. He has an incredible voice and amazing stage antics. Again I LOVE COMMON RIDER, like woah. Today's the annivery and even though i'm sad, I am also greatful for the fact that they were a band to begin with. Also for all of you who don't know or even care Dave Blood of the Deadmilk Men killed himself. :[

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it the anniversary of Common Rider's break up?

Interesting concept [27 Feb 2004|10:23pm]

Wow, NOW I'm a part of somethinG!! heh heh. A Common Rider community! And I thought I was the ONLY fan in the nation! Well, that reeked of sarcasm, but really, down here in NC not many people dig CR. Common Rider was one of, if not the most, influential and inspirational bands to me musically, lyrically, completely. Is Jesse's e-mail still the old e-mail on the CR site, because I e-mailed them regarding finding bass tabs. By the way, does anyone here happen to know the whereabouts of a decent number of Common Rider's bass tabs?

Jesse emailed me also. i wasn't too sure if it was really him or not. but damn it still made me extremely excited.

---Dear Megan,
Thanks for writing. You are very, very sweet. I think
you are the greatest too and I'm really glad you like
our stuff. I don't know what to say except keep on
rocking (if that isn't to dumb) and you have all my
best wishes. Take care and thanks Meg!!!
Your friend, jesse
